Fire Extinguisher Disposal Service Terms
Fire Extinguisher Disposal Service Terms
Effective Monday 2 March 2026
Firebox Australia Pty Ltd provides fire extinguisher disposal services to support the safe and responsible end of life management of fire safety equipment.
Fire extinguishers are pressurised safety devices. At end of life they must be handled, transported and processed carefully to protect people, property and the environment.
Firebox’s disposal service is structured to support safe, compliant and commercially sustainable lifecycle management of fire safety equipment. It is not designed to operate as a standalone waste collection service.
These terms outline how our disposal service operates so we can continue supporting customers safely and consistently.
1. Purpose of the Disposal Programme
The Disposal Programme is designed to:
• Support one for one replacement activity
• Promote responsible lifecycle management
• Recover freight and handling costs associated with collections
• Maintain safe working conditions for all parties
Our goal is to ensure the service remains sustainable and available to customers who are actively managing fire safety equipment.
2. Disposal Pricing Structure
Disposal pricing is governed by Firebox’s current disposal schedule as issued in official Firebox pricing.
One for One Replacement Activity
Where extinguishers disposed are matched by replacement purchases, standard disposal pricing applies.
Surplus or Disposal Only Activity
Where disposal volumes exceed replacement volumes, or where no replacement purchase is made, surplus disposal pricing applies to those units.
Firebox may review disposal volumes in relation to replacement activity at the time of invoicing.
3. Pickup Allocation and Collection Fee
A collection fee of $89 per pickup allocation applies for metro area collections.
A pickup allocation represents the vehicle space, labour and handling equivalent of one disposal cage, whether extinguishers are supplied in a cage or handed over loose.
• Partial pickups are treated as one pickup allocation
• Stacking of extinguishers is not permitted for safety reasons
Where appropriate, Firebox may apply reasonable discretion in the application of collection fees.
4. Van Run Limits
To ensure safe transport and compliance:
• NSW and QLD: maximum 3 pickup allocations per run
• VIC: maximum 2 pickup allocations per run
Collections exceeding these limits may require additional runs or freight charges.
5. Lead Time and Booking Requirements
• A minimum of 48 hours notice is required
• Estimated quantities, loading method and site access must be confirmed at the time of booking
• If site conditions differ materially from those advised, collections may need to be rescheduled
6. Loading and Safety Requirements
Safe handling is essential.
• Stacking of extinguishers is not permitted
• Hand loading is permitted with customer assistance
• Palletised disposals must be forklift loaded by the customer
• Firebox staff will not manually break down pallets on site
Firebox reserves the right to pause or decline collection where safety requirements are not met.
7. Existing Agreements
Where formal written disposal agreements are in place between Firebox and a customer, those agreed terms will continue to apply unless trading arrangements materially change.
8. Service Discretion
Firebox may apply reasonable discretion in the application of these terms to support long standing customer relationships and practical site conditions.
Disposal FAQs
Why has Firebox updated its disposal terms?
Disposal volumes have increased as more customers replace extinguishers at end of life. The updated structure ensures we can continue offering safe, compliant and sustainable disposal services.
What is a pickup allocation?
A pickup allocation reflects the vehicle space and handling required for a disposal visit. It is equivalent to one disposal cage, whether extinguishers are supplied caged or loose.
Why is there a collection fee?
Even small quantities require a vehicle visit, driver time and warehouse processing. The collection fee helps cover these operational costs.
What is surplus disposal pricing?
Surplus pricing applies where disposal volumes exceed one for one replacement activity or where no replacement purchase is made.
Can extinguishers be stacked?
No. Stacking is not permitted for safety reasons.
What notice is required for collection?
We require a minimum of 48 hours notice to schedule collections appropriately.
What if I have an existing agreement?
If you have a written disposal agreement with Firebox, your agreed terms will continue to apply unless trading arrangements materially change.
