Elumen App Test - How It Works

You may have seen at the start of October, we communicated our biggest price drop on the Elumen Self-Test, AKA, App-Test range of lights EVER! Whilst the pricing is very appealing, we also aim to enhance our offering by providing regular emails that deliver deeper insights into the product, helping you maximize its benefits! Self-Test's Settings Template

Self-Test lights are no new thing to the Emergency Lighting category and have been developed by many manufacturers to provide time saving benefits and detailed test results at a glance. At their most basic, self-test emergency lights automatically test themselves to ensure that the battery will last a 90-minute drop test, with some also allowing users to see more detailed information such as spot lamp failures

However, not all self-test lights are created equal. Some only offer their testers results via a flashing LED on the side of the unit which can be hard to see or find, through to some being able to wirelessly offer a detailed analysis of their testing results for each Emergency Light, such as the Elumen App-Test range! 

Traditional Self-Test lights offer only basic test results, which can often be hard to read or understand. Elumen App-Test allows you to capture test results via your smart phone allowing for much more detailed results.

Firebox AU coined the phrase ‘App-Test‘ to explicitly outline how each Elumen Light is tested, (through the Elumen smart phone App) which is a fundamental point of difference from other Self-Test Lights on the market. Elumen Lights offer their test results via Bluetooth communication to the Elumen App downloaded onto any smart device (IOS, Android), which makes testing them 100% handsfree and with results shown instantly. 

By utilising the Elumen App, users can see detailed information on each individual Elumen luminaire within 30M Bluetooth range and have a vast array of settings and parameters at their fingertips in a lush-app experience. 

Out of the box, Elumen App-Test lights don't require any special treatment, just install and go!


By default, all Elumen App-Test Emergency lights are set to drop their own power every 60 days from when they are turned on, meaning that you'll have fresh test data each time you conduct your 6-monthly test.


Regardless of which circuit their on, as long as there is constant power, they will perform reliably time and time again.


The Sunrise-ST (Spitfire) is set at a D40 classification but can be reduced to D23 and increased to D63 depending on the requirements of the building.


All factory settings are able to be amended to suit the needs of the building you're servicing, and/or the customer's requests and any unique operational items to consider. 


Customising Elumen App-Test lights is easy and can be done all from your smartphone via the Elumen App! This means that once the lights are installed, all set up can be done without ever needing to touch the light again.

Using the Elumen App, you're easily able to adjust the following parameters unique to each asset:

  • Name the asset
  • Name which level of the building it is on for easy identification
  • Select the auto-lock timeout stopping any further changes being made
  • Select Test Date
  • Select the Time in which in will test on the selected Test Date
  • Adjust the frequency of the drop test (2 - 6 months), and
  • If using the Spitfire, adjust the D Classification of the light

Elumen App-Test Emergency Lights are ideal for sensitive environments, such as Aged Care, as they can aid in the follow examples:

  • Reduce the time required onsite by autonomously testing prior to 6-Monthly visit, thus having the test data on hand as the technician completes a walk-through.
  • Purposefully setting test date and time of day to coordinate around sensitive times, and/or activities.

A more common scenario is using the benefits of Elumen App-Test lights to enhance the experience of an office. Sometimes a drop test conducted on emergency exit lights may also drop their office lighting; a huge inconvenience to those working beneath them. Elumen App-Test lights can be installed and set up to test outside of office ours, both mitigating the need to disrupt their work and turning off their office lighting! 

Adjust and coordinate an array of occupancy sensors (available for Bondi, Bronte and Ocean and sold separately) offering your clients a completely customisable and truly unique offering, that is both incredibly easy to set up, and more importantly, role-out across numerous assets. 

Using the Elumen App, you're able to adjust the following parameters for absolute customisation of the sensors within a building:

  • Name, Location and auto-lock just like the emergency lights
  • Set a cluster of sensors onto different channels, for example a large carpark can be divided into 4 distinct channels, with different sensing patterns within each.
  • Adjust motion sensitivity
  • Hold times until dimmed or ultra low
  • Level of brightness when ON
  • Level of brightness when DIMMED, and
  • Level of brightness when ULTRA LOW

You can also save templates containing an array of settings, which can be passed onto another sensor instantly, for the most efficient way to set up multiple assets! Not only can you offer your clients a safe passage in low-light areas, but you can also save on the building's energy consumption as well.

You're even able to download a comprehensive summary of vital statistics from the sensors indicating how often the light has been triggered, through to estimated power usage.


An incredibly useful tool when communicating how you can save your client power consumption, not only time on site!
